As we fashion folk know, one of two most exciting times of the year for us starts in two days- Fall Fashion Week. It’s where we find out what we’ll be wearing when cooler weather sets in. Given, there’s a plethora of shows and with the ability to live stream, fashion addicts can watch several over the course of the week. But which ones are ‘can’t miss’? Find my picks below:
1. Prabal Gurung – He’s the boy wonder who only a few short years ago debuted his line at Fashion Week. He’s now the show that everyone wants to attend and practically every piece he shows is a coveted item. For Spring 12’, he wowed with purples, prints and pants that made us swoon….and some beyond gorgeous dresses too. (Confession- I wanted every piece in the collection!) Expect more greatness for Fall 12’ with print mixing and deep rich hues that are wearable and make a statement.

2. Michael Kors - You may know him as a judge from Project Runway but his expertise lies in his exceptional design aesthetic and knowing what a woman wants to wear and still be chic. In my favorite collection from the Fall 11’ shows, Michael pulled out all the stops with 70’s chic, monochromatic looks paired with faux fur, statement necklaces and the most fabulous platform sandals we’ve seen for some time. For Fall 12’, expect All-American looks in the way of clean, sleek lines in coats and dresses and faux fur as accents.

3. Reed Krakoff - Yes the creative director behind the contemporary bag brand Coach. In only his second year showing his eponymous line, Krakoff has opened a flagship on Madison Ave in NYC and in Tokyo. Last Fall his collection was all about texture and flow, and it was a beautiful take on both. With the minimalist look going strong and getting stronger, Krakoff is THE one to watch. He masterfully mixes leather with fur, silk with chunky knits and flowing chiffons with sophisticated prints. What to look for in this week’s collection? Streamlined silhouettes, jewel tone hues and more play with texture.
