Merced County property taxes due

The due date for the first installment of property tax payments without penalty in Merced County is Dec. 10, a county official announced Thursday.

“Property taxes are paid in two equal installments due Nov. r 1 and Feb. 1 of each year,” said Karen Adams, the county’s treasurer, tax collector and clerk. “The first installment will be assessed a 10-percent penalty if not paid by Dec. 10.”

Residents should have received tax statements in the mail, but anyone not having their statements can visit the tax collector’s office at 2222 M St. in Merced, visit the office online or call (209) 385-7592.

The office accepts credit and debit card payments, as well as e-checks.

There is a convenience charge for use of cards, but not for e-checks.

Taxes may be paid online, by calling (800) 906-7658 or visiting the M Street office.
