MER invites Chicago's finest artists to partake in a "songwriters in the round" session followed by a featured artist performance. This stripped down format gives front men/women a chance to step back from their bands and deliver their stories and music as they were originally contrived. Catch this unique vibe and enjoy the sincere delivery of Chicago's most dedicated songwriters! MER's Music Showcase features Dave Hamilton, Tony Sorrentino, Anthony Bagnara of Makeshift Prodigy, Ryan Curtis & Scott Bursdall and is hosted by Schubas Tavern, 3159 North Southport Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657, on Monday, March 3rd, 2014, 7:00pm.
DAVE HAMILTON - Dave Hamilton’s musical roots were planted by his family in central Illinois. Even back then he was into capes. Many memories involved rocking out with his siblings. He fondly recalls being used as a puppet in home shows orchestrated by his sisters. Today, they are still known to perform for a crowd. From a very young age, David shined in all things musical. Some of his merits include winning national awards in choreography and vocals during high school sporting a wicked mullet. Dave was the first to bring hip hop to the Castle Stage in Walt Disney World Orlando performing as a finalist on Ed McMahon’s Star Search. Dave showed ‘N Sync a few moves. At 20, Dave met his best friend “Gui-tar.” Together, they have been performing & creating magical lyrics for the past 15 years. You never meet one without the other. Life experience helped shape who he is today. David was never afraid of a challenge. His strong work ethic brought him job opportunities that include choreographer for Miss Preteen U.S.A., performer in corporate parties at industrial shows and production assistant for Jam Productions Chicago. Hamilton's latest CD is "Crow & Raven" released on April 6th, 2013. [from Dave Hamilton biography]
TONY SORRENTINO - Over the course of his life, Tony Sorrentino has been a lot of different things: student, telemarketer, retail clerk. At one point he was even a cash register repairman. But for as long as he can remember, he’s been a singer. Raised in the suburbs of Chicago by a piano-playing father and a music-loving mother, Tony started singing into the cassette recorder his mom set in front of him at age 2 and the rest is history. Since then, he’s been through the ringer of bad band names, strange venues, and endless show flyers. After almost a decade working the local band circuit, he knows himself as an artist now better than ever before. Sorrentino's latest CD is "The Art Of Knowing" released on February 13th, 2013. ANTHONY BAGNARA - of Makeshift Prodigy.
RYAN CURTIS & SCOTT BURSDALL: Based out of Chicago, Ryan Curtis and Scott Bursdall of Murley have been playing their own unique blend of rock, blues, and indie for crowds eager to hear great live music. Scott Burdsall, Ryan Curtis, Dave Wilson, and Herf Yamaya continually strive to create a sound inspired by the characteristics of the Midwest and unique to Murley. Recorded at I.V. Lab Studios and produced by Manny Sanchez (Umphrey's McGee, Patrick Stump), their new album, "Hayward," was released November 13th, 2013, and builds upon the themes of their previous studio effort, taking the distinctive sound of Murley Shertz to new heights. Intricate melodies and solid grooves lay the groundwork for the group's best work to date. [from Murley biography]
