A verdict of NOT GUILTY has come forth in the trial of Mendeecees Harris, the father of reality star Yandy Smith's newborn son and former "Love and Hip Hop" cast member who was charged with 8 counts of sexual assault against a 15 year old "step daughter" of his back in 2010. When the verdict was read, reports say the courtroom erupted in praise, amoungst those cheering was baby mama Yandy Smith who leapt to her feet and stomped, clapped, shouted and sobbed, raising arms skyward, as the verdicts to the eight individual charges were read just before 4 p.m.
“I love you!” one of them shouted to the jurors, who returned the verdicts...
Yandy took to Twitter and Instagram posting a photo of Harris and his son saying "No matter how much they tried to rip you of your pride, defame your name, degrade you...you kept your faith in God and told me to keep my head up. So I did. Not Guilty! I say it again NOT GUILTY!!!!"
Harris testified in court on Thursday and denied everything, which included receiving oral sex from the young plaintiff for cash, 6 counts of child abuse, and promoting prostitution. “That’s the truth – never, never – I never committed none of them acts to that girl in my life,” he told jurors. According to the Cliffview Pilot, Mendeecees denied ever having any kind of relationship with the plaintiff, saying she walked around with an attitude most of the time and barely spoke to anyone. (Typical teenage girl behavior, if you ask me...) It sounds like Harris and the now 19 year old plaintiff had a pretty normal step-father/step-daughter relationship when listening to his testimony but the 2 stories conflict so drastically I don't know who to believe. The jury of his peers have spoken so Harris will be cleared of all charges pertaining to THIS case, but Harris is not out of hot water yet.
The Love and Hip Hop star has a drug trafficking case pending against him as well in Rochester, NY. Now that the NJ trial is over, early next week Harris will be extradited to upstate NY where he and two other men are being charged with trafficking 2.5 million dollars of heroine and cocaine!! SMH...
Harris, who some are saying used to be a police informant already has a former drug charge on his record after a 2001 arrest.
