The men's figure skating event at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games was one that will be remembered for years to come, as it was filled with so much drama. From Evgeny Plushenko withdrawing, to Japan’s first figure skating gold, there was certainly a lot to talk about.

The men went down hard several times during the short program and the free skate. Champions and newbies alike, none were immune from gravity. Some falls were certainly more painful than others, yet they were felt by all. No one desires to fall at the Olympic Games, especially with the eyes of the world watching.

Perhaps the take away from these horrid falls, along with the interesting facial expressions that went along with them, is the strength of each of the skaters to get back up and keep skating. Sometimes it is easy to forget just how dangerous this sport can be, luckily these skater are there to remind us as they take these nasty spills.
When someone goes out there and skates effortlessly, that does not mean that what they are doing is easy, it simply means that they have done their job. Yet with great victory come many falls, especially in figure skating.
