Men’s Big East Basketball Weekly Honor Roll – February 4

After a wild week in the Big East, the anticipated weekly honor roll was released on Sunday.

Connecticut’ Shabazz Napier has been name Big East Player of the Week. Napier, a junior guard, led UConn to victories over Providence and South Florida while averaging 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Napier is shooting nearly 58% from the field and almost 62% from behind the arc.

Rookie of the Week honors went to Notre Dame forward Cameron Biedscheid for his performances against Villanova and DePaul. Biedscheid averaged 12.5 points per game and shot 50% from the field and nearly 55% from three-point range in the two Irish victories.

The freshman showed true grit as he came off the bench and scored a career-high 18 points in the win over Villanova. Biedscheid also contributed seven points in the overtime win against DePaul.

The weekly honor roll includes:

Cincinnati junior Sean Kilpatrick led his team to two victories last week. He averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals over Rutgers and Seton Hall. Kilpatrick helped Cincinnati rise to No. 17 in the rankings and continue their presence in the conference.

Louisville junior guard Russ Smith helped the Cardinals rebound from their worst week in recent history. Smith averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the wins over Pittsburgh and Marquette.

Marquette guard Vander Blue continues to be an offensive weapon for the Golden Eagles. Despite losing to Louisville, Blue averaged 23.5 points and shot nearly 60% from the field last week. Blue leads the Big East in scoring.

Notre Dame senior forward Jack Cooley makes the honor roll for his offensive showings in the Irish’s dual wins last week. Cooley averaged 21.5 points and 16.0 rebounds last week and also recorded his 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season.

Providence junior Bryce Cotton earned his place on the honor roll list after hitting the game-winning shot at Villanova. Cotton averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, including a three-pointer against the Wildcats.
