Women. We are emotionally unstable, moody, sometimes needy, and absolutely everything most men need in their lives. Heterosexuals spend a good deal of their lives looking for a “partner” of the opposite sex; someone they consider “the one” whom they wish to spend the rest of their life with. Oftentimes we are so focused on romantic love that we forget the value in friendship with the opposite sex. Our fear in this kind of relationship is falling in love with the person, sexual tensions, and other soap opera like complications. For women, guys make amazing friends. Here’s why:
You can be goofy with guys
A lot of women have a standard of sorts to hang out with each other. Every woman needs her fill of swearing, sweating, and dirty jokes. Men don’t care, so be goofy, talk about everything and anything. Unleash your inner self that just wants to sing “I Just Had Sex” by The Lonely Island.
Men are great listeners
As a woman, you know that your mind is always going in a thousand different directions. Men have the ability to focus more on one thing at a time. No not that thing! Having male friends to bounce ideas off of gives you a different perspective on life’s many issues. Sure, you can talk to your significant other about things, but he isn’t supposed to be your only friend!
Men know other men
Who better to ask advice about your significant other than another guy? Guys know what guys are thinking, and if they care about you as a friend they’ll help you find the pieces of your relationship puzzle. If a guy friend sabotages your relationship, he was never really a friend at all.
They teach you the ropes of romance
You were thinking about this topic the entire time you were reading this just admit it. Even Aristotle wrote about “friends with benefits,” or the “casual relationship” category of friendship. You don’t have to get frisky with your friends to discover what you want and what you need in a romantic partner. Seeing men around you who care about you, romance or not, is pretty special. Friendships with men help you to understand how you deserve to be treated.
So ladies, keep your male friends. Guys, know if your lady has other men in her life, you will be in major trouble if you hurt her, so don’t! Any good relationship- friendship or romantic is based on trust; if you don’t have that it might be time to consult some good friends for advice!
