Chicago, IL - Two men from Iowa were arrested, and dozens of puppies transported to Chicago's Animal Care and Control, after police discovered a case of alleged animal cruelty on Tuesday.
Officials were alerted to the situation when barking was heard coming from inside of a parked car.
Upon investigation, authorities found a shocking number of puppies in the vehicle - 43 to be exact. The puppies were stuffed into containers.
According to CBS Chicago, the puppies had minimal food and water.
Travis Wester, 22, and Larry Subject, 49, were arrested on charges of animal cruelty and bond was set at $10,000 each.
Though there is no offical word on why so many puppies were inside of the vehicle, one might easily presume that it had something to do with a breeding operation.
According to the news publication, the rescued pups included Boxers, Huskies, Chihuahuas and Pekinese.
The men are due back in court on February 16 to face their charges. The confiscated puppies will be held until the court decides how to proceed.
