Memphis women's final features Lisicki and Erakovic

A deserving champion will be crowned Saturday night at the U.S. National Indoor Championships in Memphis.

One player has won WTA titles in the past and is looking to improve her ranking heading into the spring. The other is looking to win the title that eluded her last year when she was defeated in the finals.

While German player Sabine Lisicki is the odds on favorite come Saturday night, there may be no hungrier player on the WTA Tour for a title than Marina Erakovic of New Zealand.

Lisicki seems pretty hungry as well as she defeated a former Memphis champ in Magdalena Rybarikova 7-5, 7-5.

For Lisicki, the game plan remains the same for each match.

"I will always play aggressive, and that won't change," said the hard hitting German.

Erakovic will be playing in her third career final, after runner-up finishes at Quebec City in 2011 and here in Memphis last year, where she lost to Sofia Arvidsson.

Erakovic too needed a comeback to make the finals.

"I thought today was a pretty tight match," said Erakovic, who trailed 4-2 in the second set against Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland.

Erakovic ended up pulling out the match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Lisicki leads the head-to-head 2-1, including a three-set win earlier this year in Pattaya City.
