An enchanting fairy tale with a modern twist, The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner, has everything from pirates to pitch-perfect comedic timing. As the beautiful Buttercup, engaged to the odious Prince Humperdinck, is kidnapped in order to start a war, it is up to farmer-turned-pirate Westley to save her. Westley crosses swashbuckling paths with a thief, an accomplished swordsman, a giant, a six-fingered man, and many other memorable characters on his quest to reunite with his true love. Doors open at 6:00 PM and guests are invited to arrive early to learn the basics of stage combat from Tennessee Shakespeare Company teaching artists in the Orpheum lobby.

Jaws: Summer Movie Series, Sponsored by Orion Federal Credit Union

Celebrate Discovery Channel’s annual Shark Week at the Orpheum. Director Steven Spielberg gives us one of the most feared and enduring villains of all time in Jaws. The small island community of Amity gets most of its revenue from its beautiful coastline, so when the sheriff recommends closing its beaches after finding the remains of a shark victim, officials are reluctant to agree and offer a reward for the capture of the shark instead. The slew of fisherman who respond in hopes of getting the reward prove to be no match for the gigantic great white shark that is now menacing the town. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Come early for the Orpheum’s special “shark attack” cocktail and pre-movie activities in the lobby.

When Nazi Major Strasser arrives in Casablanca, the sycophantic police Captain Renault does what he can to please him, including detaining a Czechoslovak underground leader Victor Laszlo. Much to Rick's surprise, Lazslo arrives with Ilsa, Rick's one time love. Rick is very bitter towards Ilsa, who ran out on him in Paris, but when he learns she had good reason to, they plan to run off together again using the letters of transit.
