Memphis man charged with animal cruelty in the starving and freezing of his dog

MEMPHIS TN- Zangerio Dogan, (28), was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals Tuesday, after Police found Dogan’s dog, frozen to the ground in Dogan’s sister’s backyard after icy winter weather moved through the area.

The pit bull appeared to be extremely malnourished, according to a police affidavit, and did not have appropriate shelter or food.

Dogan’s sister told police she thought her brother picked up the dog weeks ago, according to the affidavit. After the brother was located, he told police he thought his sister was caring for the animal, and that he hadn't seen or fed the dog in weeks.

Dogan is due in court Thursday.
