Mary Baker, the Shreveport Motorcycle Travel Examiner, posted a question in her most recent article: Why do you ride?
I don't remember the first time I was bitten by that bug exactly; I just know that I saw a Harley and knew that was where I wanted to be. I got there as quickly as I could, which was through some really rough characters. Although I got my own Harley and learned to ride when I was 17 (30 years ago), It wasn't until 2001 when I bought my brand new Softail that I was truly free to ride whenever and wherever I wanted.
I remember picking the bike up at the dealership, not having ridden in about 10 years, and having to ride up my daunting rural New Hampshire driveway - a steep gravel nightmare with foot deep crevasses running through it. I made it and since then have put over 88,000 miles on Hot01. While some of those miles were easier than others, they have all given me the joy and freedom I imagined in my childhood. Nowhere am I more comfortable and confident than I am on my Harley. If you don't understand, then sign up for Basic Rider Course and find out for yourself!

Thanks Abby, glad you wrote about your love of riding. Great slide show, too.
Another reason to ride -- the beautiful scenery across this great world.
Loved the pictures - I'm sharing!
