Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend on Nantucket. It is upon us. Fun times! Here are a couple suggestions for the weekend:
Arts. Hey art lovers, this Saturday in the garden of the Atheneum library around 25 artists will present their works. This is to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Artists Association of Nantucket. The show is from 10 am to 3 pm.
Sail or Watch the Race. Figawi or the Boat Race from Hyannis to Massachusetts is one of the main attraction this weekend. Race begins at 6 am. Watch up to 200 boats and sails coming into the harbor which is absolutely breathtaking.
Biking. Miles of bike paths await the explorers. This can never get too old. Nantucket is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the bike paths are among the best of the best. Whether you choose to ride to Madaket for a sunset, or stop by Dionnis beach, or if you're daring to Sconset and back, or to you will not regret it. Hint: If you get tired, flag down those buses and they will take you and your bike for a couple dollars.
Fun. Have a good time at Brant Point Grill at the Brant Point Grill Apres Beach Party. Music and drinks. Concerts also available in town.
Take a Tour or a Cruise. Take historic tours and see the history coming alive. All the historic sites open May 29. Nature tours available. Birding tours. Seal Cruises are also available. Architectural Walking Tour of Sconset.
Commemorate and Celebrate. Monday, May 31 The Memorial Day Memorium will take place in front of the Federal Street Post Office. Names of American service members who have died in Afghanistan will be read at 10 am. The celebrations will also take place at the Bartlett’s Farm. Bartlett's Ocean View Farm, Bartlett Farm Road
