Albany will be celebrating Memorial Day today with a parade that kicks off at 9:30am. It will start from Partridge St and Central Ave, proceed east on Central Ave, continuing east on Washington Ave to the parade’s end at N. Hawk St just east of the NYS Capitol. Immediately followed will be a ceremony at Academy Park, across Eagle Street from Albany City Hall. Onlookers can enjoy seeing fire trucks, marching bands, local organizations, local vets who served, and much more!
Memorial Day is a day to give tribute to honor our country's fallen heroes and those who serve or have served our country for the freedoms we have. We are grateful to anyone who have served in any capacity to protect us and maintain our liberty. God bless and protect our troops who will give their lives.
John 15:13 tells us, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." This is an example of the greatest demonstration of love. The Bible tells us in Rom 5:8 that God "commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." While we turned our back on God, He still carried out the ultimate sacrifice to give His life to even His enemies, that those who would believe (trust) in Him would have everlasting life. Even when we didn't deserve it. Our troops carry out their duties without appreciation sometimes.
Memorial Day not only remembers those who served, but traditionally kicks off the summer.
