It's important to remember the real reason for the three day weekend. Across the state of Connecticut towns will be celebrating Memorial Day and honoring our fallen soldiers. Below is a list of parades and celebrations.

  • Ansonia - 2014 marks the 108th annual Memorial Day Parade in Ansonia. This year's parade will take place on 5/25/14 starting at 2pm.
  • Berlin - On 5/26 enjoy a parade starting at 9am. The route starts from St. Paul's parking lot, down Farmington Avenue, left onto Masserio Drive, left onto Veterans Way, and ending at the Berlin Veterans Memorial Park.
  • Cheshire - Join the parade at 12pm on 5/25/14.
  • Danbury - The day will be filled with a parade, parachute jumpers, and a service at the Rose Garden. Celebrate Memorial Day on 5/26 with the parade at 9:30, followed by parachute jumpers at Rogers Park and the ceremony.
  • Darien - Monday, 5/26/14 is the selected date and time for the Memorial Day parade in Darien. The fun starts at 10am at the Goodwives Shopping Center, down the Post Road, and finishing at the monument in the Connecticut Veteran's Cemetery. After the parade concludes there will be a ceremony at the cemetery.
  • East Granby - Their parade is on 5/26/14 starting at 10am. The parade starts at the cemetery on Nicholson Road and travels to the town center on Memorial Drive.
  • East Lyme & Niantic - Come join the parade at 2pm on 5/26/14. The route will start near the St. John's green, down Main Street in Niantic, and ending at the town hall in East Lyme.
  • Fairfield - Rain or shine the show must go on. Fairfield's Memorial Day parade will be held on Monday 5/26/14 at 10am. The parade will feature floats, bands, and military units among other things. A ceremony and free picnic will be held after the parade located on the town greed.
  • Farmington - The parade will be held on 5/26/14 starting at 10:30am. The route will be at the intersection of Garden Street and Farmington Avenue, right onto Main Street, continuing onto Maple Street, and ending at Riverside Cemetery. Services will be held following the parade.
  • Forestville - Join the residents of Forestville on Monday, 5/26 at noon for their Memorial Day parade.
  • Hamden - On 5/26/14 at 10am the 78th annual Memorial Day parade kicks off in Hamden. A wreath ceremony will follow at Veterans Memorial at the middle school.
  • Ledyard - Their parade starts at 1:15pm on Sunday 5/25/14 leaving from Ledyard Center School. The route will follow Route 117, left to Colonel Ledyard Highway, left onto Gallup Hill Road, and ending at the high school.
  • Meriden - Meriden's parade will be on 5/26/14 at 10am. The parade will start at Washington Park, continue on Liberty Street, Cottage Street, and East Main Street. The ending location is city hall.
  • Monroe - Monroe, CT will have a parade on Sunday 5/25 at 2pm. The route will be from Lower Elm Street and Route 111 to the New War Memorial at the town green. A ceremony will follow.
  • Norwalk - Watch the parade at 10am on 5/26/14. The parade starts at Veterans Park and concludes at East Avenue (the green).
  • Orange - Visit the parade on Sunday 5/25. The day starts with a ceremony at 10:30am located at the High Plains Community Center parade grounds. Immediately following the parade will commence. Services will follow at the Orange Center Cemetery.
  • Seymour - Arrive by 11am on 5/25/14 to enjoy the parade in Seymour.
  • Southbury - Southbury will be hosting a parade at 11am on 5/26/14. The parade route starts on Main Street South all the way to Ballantine Park. At the park there will be a family picnic day including face painting, bounce houses, games, and music.
  • Trumbull - To start the day, a ceremony will be held at the town hall at 8:45am. The parade will start at 10am on 5/26/14.
  • Unionville - An early start for this parade, starting at 8:30am on 5/26/14. The route will start at the intersection of Route 177 and New Britain Avenue, travel north on Route 177, left onto Main Street, left onto Elm, right onto Maple, and left onto Perry. The ending point is the gazebo.
  • Wallingford - Monday, 5/26/14 marks the date for Wallingford's Memorial Day parade. The parade starts at 9am from Dutton Park, down Main Street, turns onto Center and Elm Streets, and ends at Doolittle Park.
  • West Hartford - West Hartford, CT will host their Memorial Day parade on Monday 5/26 at 10am. Veterans are welcome to join the parade and ride the trolley. The parade route will begin on Farmington Avenue heading east, south onto South Main Street, east side of Goodman Green to Burr Street. The parade will end at the town hall. There is no rain date for this parade. A memorial service will be held after the parade at the West Hartford Veterans Memorial.
  • West Haven - The parade for West Haven is one mile in length down Campbell Avenue to Center Street. The parade is on 5/26/14 at 10:30am.
  • Westport - Select your route between Saugatuck Elementary School, Riverside Avenue, Post Road, and to the town hall. The Memorial Day parade in Westport will be held at 9am on 5/26/14.
  • Wilton - The day begins with breakfast at the Congregational church from 8-10:30am on 5.26.14. The parade kicks off at 10am at 21 River Road, travels through Wilton Center, past the green, old town hall, and Congregational church, and ends at the cemetery. Veterans will be honored at a ceremony featuring music and speeches.
