In the first part of this article, we discussed the importance of family dinners and looked at a memorable feast scene in the film Summer Rental. The comical dinner scenes are not exclusive to the comedy genre, this scene is part of a horror film.

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Well, divorcée, Lucy (Dianne Wiest) follows this advice in the film, The Lost Boys.

While she is searching for a job, she meets Max (Edward Herrmann), who offers her employment at his television store. After working together for a short time he asks her out. She is happy to be back in the dating game and invites him over to her house for dinner.

Unfortunately, her son Sam (Corey Haim) and his friends are in search of the head vampire in their town. For, Sam's brother becomes a half vampire by drinking blood from a bottle disguised as wine. In order to save him, they must find and kill the head vampire. They suspect Max, so they invite themselves to their dinner date and decide to give him "the vampire test." (See clip)

Meal times have a way bringing people to together or pulling them apart. Although the dinner is a disaster and Max is not as innocent as he seems, he stills asks Lucy out again. Perhaps the secret is in the sauce and your date may be a liar or just have a rowdy kid, but if the food is good you will have another date.
