Memorable baby shower ideas: Room decor

You are planning a baby shower, and you want to do everything you can to make it the most memorable baby shower ever. After you have decided on your budget, you start planning the party. Here are some decorating tips to make your baby shower one of the most unique your clients have ever seen.

Your first step is to pick a theme for your baby soiree. While specific themes will be discussed in a later article, you would be wise to stick to one theme for your baby shower, even if that theme is just a color scheme. An important fact to remember when working within your chosen theme is that it does not mean all your decorations have to be matching; not only would excessive matching be overwhelming to the eye, but it could also give a monotonous feel to the event. A theme is simply a central point to which all aspects of the party should relate in some way, not an excuse for needless repetition.

Once you have picked a theme, you can start planning your room decorations. One idea is to use practical items that your mom-to-be can take home once the party is over. For example, you can purchase some yarn, clothespins, and onesies that fit your theme and use them in a variety of areas. You can hang them over doors, decorate the walls by giving them a clothesline feel and adding some color to the room, or use them as table skirting (although this option is a little more risky as food might be spilled on them). You could do the same thing with bibs, outfits for baby once it is older, or even diapers in various sizes.

If the soon-to-be mom and dad had pictures taken while mom is pregnant, you could also use those pictures. You could enlarge them and create a personalized banner to hang somewhere in the party space. You could put them on a backdrop of some sorts (like colorful plates, placemats, or anything else you can think of) and hang them around the room.

If you have a larger budget at your disposal, you could even construct some 3D decorations. You could create a picture corner that centers on the theme you have chosen. For example, if your theme is woodland creatures, you could construct a tree and have woodland creatures sitting on limbs, peeping out of tree hollows, or flying away from the nest.

If your party space allows you to hang objects from the ceiling, you could purchase some baby hats, booties, shoes, and stuffed animals to hang from the ceiling at different lengths. The result will look similar to a mobile that you would find in a baby’s crib.

These are just some of the ideas you can find to make your next baby shower a memorable one that guests will not soon forget. If you know of more and want to share them, please feel free to leave a comment below.
