Melo Named All-Star Starter along with Garnett (Video)

Carmelo Anthony was named an All-Star starter for the fifth time in his career as he tallied 1,460,950 votes, which was fifth overall behind Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Kevin Durant.

It is the second time in a row that he will represent the New York Knickerbockers. In last year's game in Orlando, Anthony scored 19 points in a losing effort for the Eastern Conference as they lost another high scoring game, 152-149.

Anthony is having an MVP year for New York up to this point leading them to second place in the Eastern Conference with a 25-13 record. He is second in scoring behind Bryant with 29.3 points per game. It has been his best season of his career because he is shooting the ball better than ever. He is shooting 46 percent from the field, and has been even better from three-point range with a 42 percent clip.

It should make for a very interesting game as Anthony will be teammates with the man he nearly punched out at the Garden parking lot two weeks ago, Kevin Garnett. During their January 9th game at the Garden, Anthony and Garnett were both given technical fouls during a heated exchange. Garnett reportedly said something about Anthony's wife, LaLa Vasquez, during the game which prompted Anthony to wait for him by the Celtics bus following the game. Anthony received a one game suspension as a result of the incident.

Garnett and Anthony will be have Lebron James, Rajon Rondo, and Dwayne Wade as their other starting teammates.
