Another high-profile movie has chosen to film in Wilmington, North Carolina. "Tammy," starring Melissa McCarthy, is now filming in the southeastern N.C. area.

According to On Location Vacations, McCarthy plays Tammy, a woman having the worst day of her life when she is fired from her job and then finds out her husband is cheating on her. She decides to hit the road with her grandmother (Susan Sarandon), whose lesbian friend (Kathy Bates) joins them. Mark Duplass plays a man Tammy meets along the way. Dan Aykroyd plays Duplass’ father and Allison Janney plays McCarthy’s mother.

According to Wilmington's WWAY, McCarthy and Sarandon filmed a car scene for "Tammy" on Friday, May 17 at N. 4th Street. "They set out on a road trip, and Melissa doesn't know where they are going, so it's two minutes out of the gate, and she made the wrong turn," Executive Producer Chris Henchy told WWAY. "She whips a U-turn right in front of us. I mean that's the first five minutes of the road trip. They're already screwed up." Wilmington's Star News has photos of the actresses on set.

"Tammy" is expected to shoot in Boiling Spring Lakes and other Brunswick County locations the week of May 20. MartysCasting is posting regular casting calls, if you want a chance to appear in the film. Check out current listings here.
