Actress Melissa McCarthy is going to be entering the fashion world. With her name now linked to side-splitting comedy, the excitement cannot be contained with her announcement of creating a clothing line.
The cover model of this month’s, Redbook, McCarthy explains why she decided to develop a collection:
“When I go shopping, most of the time I’m disappointed. Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers—very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people—and they all said no.”
McCarthy was a clothing and textiles student at Southern Illinois University. She dropped out to pursue comedy. The interest in pursuing fashion took to the back burner as her acting career took off. In 2011, she had plans to take on a fashion line with her Emmy’s gown designer Daniella Pearl, but her acting career continued to explode.
Melissa’s on the cover of the current issue of Redbook, out in newsstands today. Let’s hope she lets out a bit more about her fashion endeavor!
