At this point, Melissa McCarthy may be the most untouchable actress in Hollywood. Last year saw her star in Identity Thief and The Heat, two comedies with mediocre reviews that audiences ate up with a spoon. The people love her and will probably continue to support her every move, and that will no doubt include her latest wild comedy, Tammy.
A passion project McCarthy co-wrote with her director husband, Ben Falcone, Tammy follows a woman who believes she's living the perfect life until she loses her job on the same day her husband is caught cheating. Susan Sarandon plays her alcoholic grandmother who tags along as Tammy sets off on a life-changing road trip. You won't see any of that in this first trailer, though, which is basically just a chance for McCarthy to act a fool to Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise'. While we're at it, can we call a moratorium on unhip people goin' hard to gangsta rap? Thanks. Its time has been over since Office Space.
Tammy hits theaters on July 2nd.
