Melissa McCarthy was the talk of theaters across the nation as her and Jason Bateman's movie reached new heights in box office sells. 'Identity Thief' enjoyed a whopping $33.6 million debut on Friday (February 8) as millions came out to see the comedy. Although critics gave the movie unfavorable ratings, Melissa and Jason captured the attention of the public, making 'Identity Thief' the most profitable R-rated comedy to date.
In the film, Jason and Melissa, who share the same name, meet up when Bateman discovers that McCarthy has stolen his identity. The two go on a crazy but hilarious journey together as Jason tries to clear his name as Melissa takes hustling to new heights.
Although many actors and actresses hire people to perform the dangerous stuff, McCarthy chose to be a trooper in doing all of her stunts in the movie. "I got hurt a lot and I’m apparently an idiot," said the actress. "I just thought after this movie, 'Oh, I’m not very bright.' At the end of it, I was like, 'There was that stunt woman there for so much of this.' I think I get kind of excited to do it, and then I don’t really think about doing it 42 times. I just think, 'Oh, I’ll go down the stairs.' [It was] an extra $26."
'Identity Thief' is available for public viewing at movie theaters throughout the nation. Check out the trailer below!
