Melissa McCarthy called 'tractor-sized' and 'hippo' by movie reviewer

Actress Melissa McCarthy was called a slew of weight-related derogatory names, including "tractor-sized" and "hippo," by a movie reviewer, a report revealed on Thursday, Feb. 7.

New York Observer film critic, Rex Reed, not only bashed Melissa's new movie, "Identity Thief," but he also slammed her on a personal level regarding her weight, Us Weekly reported. In a very negative review, Rex called the new comedy a "new chunk of junk," and referred to the film's screenplay as "stupefying."

Then, the worst came when he attacked Melissa by calling her "cacophonous, tractor-sized," then describing her character as a "screeching, humongous creep," and Mr. Bateman's "female hippo." He ends his critique by saying that Melissa "has devoted her career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success."

Melissa has often talked about her weight issues and revealed that she eats healthy and does Pilates, but can't understand why she's not losing the extra pounds. In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Melissa said that, "I don't really know why I'm not thinner than I am. I don't really drink soda, I don't have a sweet tooth, and we eat healthfully at home."
