Melissa Gorga, star of "Real Housewives of New Jersey," has a new book out and it is making the controversial rounds of the Internet. The Huffington Post reported on Sept. 27, 2013, that Gorga's "Love, Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage" appears to advocate marital rape in some of the content.
Gorga has spoken a lot about the book and said it gives tips on how to strengthen your marriage and make it "sexy." Of course, she bases the content of the book on the marriage and relationship she has with husband Joe Gorga.
The book hit store shelves on Sept. 17, 2013, and it has since left a lot of people feeling rather uncomfortable. While some may see the content as no worse than anything else; others believe it to be advocating marital rape.
A passage from "Love, Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage":
Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken. But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says "no," turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated. Women don't realize how easy men are. Just give us what we want.
Gorga continues on to say she has sex with her husband even if she isn't in the mood or is simply "exhausted" because it isn't right for a woman to tell her husband to "leave her alone." She believes that will eventually lead to a man leaving them alone all the time.
Currently on Amazon, Melissa Gorga's book has only two stars and a load of ripping criticism and comments. They aren't only displeased with the content, but also the fact that there are numerous typos and grammatical errors.
"This book was painful," one critic said. "Shame on whoever told Melissa Gorga she could write. Not to mention that her 'secrets' are from another century. I've been married nearly 30 years. We still got it. And it has nothing to do with being my husband's servant. It has to do with love and respect. Too bad the author of this drivel doesn't know that."
