Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice are not just co-stars on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” they are also sisters-in-law. Melissa is married to Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga and there has been a great deal of tension between the Gorga’s and the Giuidice’s over the past several years.

In a new interview yesterday, May 19 about the sixth season of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Melissa Gorga says that she and Teresa Giudice have grown closer and put their differences aside. Melissa also said that her husband, Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga, has been 100 percent in his sister’s corner over the past year.

Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice have been charged with 31 felony counts of bank and mail fraud, as well as representing income fraudulently in order to obtain mortgages. Both Teresa and Joe face up to 50 years in prison. Melissa Gorga says that Giudice’s legal troubles have helped the families heal, overcome their differences and grow closer as a family.

Calling the past drama that has played out on past seasons of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” irrelevant, Melissa Gorga went on to say that she and Joe Gorga are there for Teresa and Joe Giudice and the couple’s four daughters. Joe Gorga is godfather to Gia Giudice, Teresa and Joe’s oldest daughter. Of all the Giudice and Gorga children, Gia has been the most affected by the drama between her mother and her uncle and aunt.

This season viewers will see just how much Gia Giudice has been affected by her parent’s legal trouble. In the trailer for the new season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” Gia is shown breaking into tears while speaking with her mother Teresa Giudice and asking with her about the family's legal troubles. Gia is also shown speaking with her father Joe, telling him she wants to become a criminal attorney when she grows up.

With the exit of Jacqueline Laurita and Caroline Manzo, Bravo has added three new ladies to the cast of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Dina Manzo is a “RHONJ” again, and despite being separated from her husband, Dina still lives with Tommy Manzo and says that the two still have an “intimate relationship.” The sixth season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” returns to its 8 p.m. time slot on Sunday, July 13 on Bravo
