On Jan. 29, news that Melissa Gilbert has officially agreed to marry Timothy Busfield arrived via social media and other sources, including by way of a story running on Melissa's IMDb area as written by E! Online.
Indeed, these iconic television stars (she made a name for herself as a child star on "Little House on the Prairie' while he starred in the 1980s hit,"Thirtysomething") reportedly decided to tie the knot during the holidays. However, word didn't get out to the masses until today when their love story started trending on the Internet.
According to a report from Us magazine by way of Yahoo, the two thespians went to Beverly Hills to celebrate at top Chinese restaurant Mr. Chow on Jan. 28. It was there that the actress who played little Laura Ingalls in a classic television show clinked glasses with her future husband, who not only starred in the must-see drama that celebrated the yuppie generation, but was also a fixture on the "West Wing" as well.
Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield have been acquainted for some two decades but it wasn't until last year that these passing colleagues became a romantic couple. This happened around the same time Melissa appeared on "Dancing with the Stars, " pushing through even though she suffered a serious injury on the TV talent show that airs on ABC.
The love between the two actors also started about a year after Gilbert made her final split from another thespian, Bruce Boxleitner. Melissa and Bruce had been wed for 16 years.
Before Boxleitner, Gilbert was married to Bo Brinkman, but this pair divorced in 1992. Meanwhile, Busfield was wed to both Radha Delmarter and Jenny Meriwin in the past. So, with this marriage history in both parties' past, optimistic pundits hold the proverbial hope that three time's a charm for this newly engaged couple.
Melissa Gilbert is 48 and her future husband, Timothy Busfield, is 55. No details about the wedding have been released yet so stay tuned for more information about their upcoming nuptials that may or may not turn out to be a blow-out, Hollywood-style affair.
