NBC has announced that Melanie Brown, more commonly known as Mel B., will be filling Sharon Osbourne's vacated seat at the judges' table on America's Got Talent for Season 8.
"I'm thrilled to be part of this season of America's Got Talent and to get to work with Howie and Howard," Brown said in a statement. "It's so exciting to be bringing some Girl Power to the panel!"
Brown's greatest claim to fame is as "Scary Spice," formerly of the short-lived girl group The Spice Girls.
This is apparently a continuation of NBC's longstanding policy that the talent America's Got Talent be judged by people who don't have it and don't know anything about it.
Despite her dubious claim to fame, Brown can already rightfully declare herself the smartest and most professional judge at the table by default.
Howie Manchild, who continuously makes no secret of the fact that he enjoys nothing more than taking the absolute worst, most completely talent-deprived acts out of the auditions and forcing America to watch them again, has already been confirmed for his fourth season, as has Howard Stern, who is apparently the one man in the entire country hoping for someone on AGT to die.
NBC is also looking into the possibility of adding a fourth judge to the AGT panel (because it did wonders for American Idol's ratings). No word yet has been given as to whom that fourth judge might possibly be.
