Mel Gibson's dad is divorced after 10 years of marriage, and that means the handsome 94-year-old man is finally single again. The elder Gibson, whose first name is Hutton, is officially divorced from his wife, 78-year-old Teddy Joye Hicks, according to a Jan.4, 2013 report by TMZ.
Last November, Mel Gibson's estranged stepmother actually filed a restraining order against the star amid claims that he had abused her and committed multiple acts of domestic violence against her. She reportedly also wanted Mel to stop interfering in matters between herself and her now ex-husband. Mel Gibson allegedly accused Hicks of attempting to hasten his father's death by withholding medication. If those allegations are true, she certainly wasn't acting in anticipation of inheriting a fortune.
Hicks will retain more than $640,000 in cash and savings post-divorce, plus she will get to keep the couple's Lincoln Town Car. Gibson will walk away with a meager $22,595. Each of the newly divorced senior citizens will also get half of their shared assets, which amount to just $10,000 each.
Fortunately for Mel Gibson's divorced dad, his wealthy son is worth an estimated $425 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, and Mel pays all his father's bills.
