Mel Gibson rumored to be father of Jodie Foster's children (Photos)

The celebrity rumor mill has pegged Mel Gibson as the father of Jodie Foster's two sons Charles and Kit.

The New York Post ran with the story on Friday, January 18th after several days of speculation following Foster's emotional tribute to Gibson during her Golden Globe Lifetime Achievement Awards acceptance speech last Sunday during which she told Gibson:

"You know, you save me, too."

The Post even consulted a real live "amateur genealogist" to "validate" their story.

Gibson and Foster have been friends since they co-starred in the 1994 film "Maverick". Foster gave birth two her two sons after being artificially inseminated so that she could have children with her longtime partner Cyndey Bernard. Foster and Bernard have since split, but Foster did give her a shout out during the same Golden Globe speech, calling her:

"My heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life"

Foster has stated she will not reveal the identity of her children's father until they are 21. They are currently aged 14 and 12.
