Mel B booed at her first 'America's Got Talent' auditions

Former "X Factor" Australia judge Melanie Brown (also known as Mel B), who joined "America's Got Talent" in February 2013, was reportedly booed at her first "America's Got Talent" auditions on March 4, 2013, at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

New Orleans is famous for jazz and bands that play brass instruments. According to TMZ, she upset the audience by blasting Lagniappe, "a very popular New Orleans brass band. Mel told the band ... she's not a fan of brass music. The audience went nuts on her, screaming 'Go home,' and 'No respect.' Mel became unglued, and leaned over to Howie [Mandel, another 'America's Got Talent Judge'], who comforted her."

This isn't the first time that Brown (also known as Scary Spice of the Spice Girls) has been booed as a talent-show judge. In 2012, she was booed on "The X Factor" U.K. auditions when she was a guest judge on the show. In addition, when she was a judge on "The X Factor" Australia in 2011 and 2012, Brown got booed by the audience many times, and she had a reputation for being the toughest judge on the show. In interviews, Brown said that she was the "bitch" of "The X Factor" Australia.

As previously reported, Brown replaced Sharon Osbourne on "America's Got Talent." Osbourne (who is a longtime talent manager in the music industry) was an "America's Got Talent" judge from 2007 to 2012, and she was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2004 to 2007.

The Sun and other British tabloids have reported that Osbourne and Brown are competing with each other to replace Tulisa Contostavlos as a judge on "The X Factor" U.K.

However, given that Brown is required to be at live episodes of "America's Got Talent" in the same months that "The X Factor" U.K. films auditions, boot camp and the judge's houses phase of the competition, it is very unlikely that she can be a judge on both shows at the same time.

The other judges on "America's Got Talent" are Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum, who was recently added to the panel.

"The X Factor" U.K.'s judging panel for 2013 has not yet been announced.
