Meijer is offering mPerks members a free gallon of milk through Thursday. The Midwestern hypermarket chain announced the giveaway today as part of their continuing effort to move beyond traditional marketing to reach a new generation of shoppers.
The mPerks program is internet based requiring members to sign onto the internet and “clip” coupons. At the checkout they enter their cell phone number and pass code. If the customer bought any item for which they have a coupon the cents off are automatically applied.
For the third consecutive week Meijer has posted a free item on their Facebook page. Last week the free item as an 18 ounce jar of Jif peanut butter. The prior week offered a complimentary dozen eggs.
As new marketing ideas are deployed Meijer is dropping a popular older program. The long standing policy of doubling coupons up to fifty cents will end on August 25.
