Megan Fox quits Twitter: Actress speaks out

Megan Fox has deactivated her brief – try one week – experiment with Twitter. She collected more than 250,000 followers already this month, but the actress has pulled the plug. “I thought that 2013 might be the year that I finally blossomed into a social networking butterfly, but as it turns out, I still hate it,” she said and Us magazine reports on Thursday, Jan. 10.

Is it Twitter Megan Fox hates, or the whole social media thing? The actress went on: “Love you guys but I will just never be that girl. Facebook is as much as I can handle. I'm sorry.” It sounds as if Facebook is not her favorite activity, either, but she slogs through it. Social media enthusiasts have to face it. Spilling out your whole life, moment by moment, to hundreds, thousands, or millions of real and virtual friends is not appealing to everyone.

Megan Fox used Twitter the way many celebs do – for self promotion. She plugged her new movie “This Is 40.” She bonded with her fans by displaying a large “Star Wars” collection of memorabilia and by proclaiming herself to be a Los Angeles Lakers fan. She even shared some pictures of herself as a child. Cute. Appealing. But then maybe she wondered how to top all that? Twitter messages are short, but the need to fill space keeps going and growing.

Megan Fox is gorgeous and talented. She does not need to be constantly in communication with the people who enjoy her movies, to keep them buying tickets. So, if it isn’t fun, why do it?
