Megan Fox and Michael Bay have apparently kissed and made up. The action auteur has announced, via his own website: “TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!”
“TMNT” is a shorthand reference to “The Teenage Mutant Turtles,” although IMDb lists the title simply as “Ninja Turtles.” That won’t matter to fans, who will get it either way.
Fox was unceremoniously and very publicly fired from Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” back in 2010. She’d made inflammatory comments about Bay, and he doesn’t take that sort of thing well. Fox’s career has been a non-event since. Her major post-“Transformers” gigs, “Jennifer’s Body” and “Jonah Hex,” were stink bombs with critics and audiences alike.
“Ninja Turtles” is being produced through Bay’s Platinum Dunes company and Paramount. Jonathan Liebesman, the internationally critically acclaimed auteur behind such cinema classics as “Darkness Falls,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” and, wait for it, “Wrath of the Titans,” is helming from a script by Josh Appelbaum. Appelbaum has ties to the J.J. Abrams camp, having written numerous episodes of “Alias” and co-written “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol,” which Abrams produced.
“Ninja Turtles” is currently scheduled for a May 16, 2014 release.
