Mega Sableye shown off at E3

There have been a number of mega announcements from Pokemon in the last few days, and the addition of Sableye to the Mega Pokemon roster is the latest and possibly most surprising of tall he news.

Mega Sableye was introduced at E3 today along with the above trailer. The Ghost/Dark type Pokemon will retain its typing upon Mega Evolution but nothing is currently known about what ability it will possess. It is possible that it's hidden ability, Prankster, will be added into its Mega form.

Sableye never really had any great stats with a base total of 380. Prior to the Generation 6 introduction of the Fairy type however, it countered its low stats with no weaknesses. It will definitely get a much needed stat blast with the Mega form, and one stat in particular looks to be the biggest beneficiary.

Defense seems to be the route that Mega Sableye will go as it uses a giant gem as a shield. In fact a press release from a developer of the game went into even more details about the protection powers of the jewel.

"Mega Sableye uses the jewel as a powerful defensive tool in battle. From behind the shelter of the jewel, it can readily exploit the opponent’s weaknesses and take advantage of any openings. It is said that the jewel hardens into such strength that no attack can even make a scratch!”

In Pokemon X and Y Mawile received a Mega Evolution and as the counterpart of Sableye, many speculated that Sableye would get one as well. It took longer than many fans thought, but Sableye has finally joined the Mega Evolution club.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS will be getting released on November 21. Sableye will have to wait just a little longer before making its debut, but it looks like it will be worth the wait.
