Who knows how high the Mega Millions jackpot will go? It's anyone's guess, but chances are it'll go even higher than it is right now. According to FOX News on Tuesday, reported Paula Otto, executive director of the Virginia Lottery and lead director for Mega Millions said,

"We estimate by drawing time we'll be about $75 million ahead in sales. Officials expect about 70 percent of the possible number combinations to be purchased for Tuesday night's drawing. She also noted that if a winner isn't selected either Tuesday night or for Friday's drawing, the jackpot could hit $1 billion—an unheard of amount for Mega Millions or Powerball, the nation's two main lottery games."

The last drawing on Friday the 13th proved unlucky for over 12 million lottery winners that bought winning tickets valued at $2 to $1 million, and millions of wannabe Mega Millions jackpot winners that didn't win anything. The drawing produced a slew of Mega Millions lottery winners, but none of them were lucky enough to match all six Mega Millions winning numbers for the $425 million jackpot. Since then, the Mega Millions jackpot has already increased twice—the first time from $550 million on Monday, to today's high of $636 million.

What are the odds of picking the Mega Millions winning numbers? Just 1 in 258,890,850. Can you do it? Could you pick all six Mega Millions winning numbers for the December 17 drawing? It's up to you, but remember, you can't win, if you don't play!

What Time is the Mega Millions Drawing Tonight?

New Jersey Lottery officials say the next Mega Millions drawing is Dec. 17 at 11 p.m. EST. Tuesday's estimated jackpot is a staggering $636 million annuity, or a one-time cash payout of $341 million. Both amounts are before taxes. Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11 p.m. EDT at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets are sold in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands and cost $1 each. Another $1 for the Megaplier option could greatly multiply your prize winnings!
