The Mega Millions winning numbers results for Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 are worth an estimated $145 million grand prize jackpot, before taxes. The latest drawing is expected to be televised during WDBJ 7's late newscast in Roanoke Friday night, just as news has arrived that a $1 million prize from Tuesday's drawing remains unclaimed.
Update: 9/20 Winning numbers are 1-15-20-21-47 and Mega Ball number 34.
The Daily Press reported on Sept. 18 that a ticket purchased in Hampton at the Race Coast Mart on 1404 East Pembrook Avenue matched the first five numbers, without the Mega Ball number. That yields a prize of $1 million for the ticket, but as of this report, there hadn't been any news that the ticket was turned in by the winner(s). The winner still has 180 days to claim that prize, so it could be several months, as some winners have discovered winning tickets in glove boxes or other obscure places weeks and months after the fact.
On Tuesday night, the winning Mega Millions numbers were 6-15-27-31-39 and a Mega Ball number of 25. Since no tickets matched all of those numbers exactly, the grand prize climbed again, and now sits at $145 million, or a cash option of $98 million. There's also the lump sum option which is payed out in installments to the winner, if they choose.
Friday's Mega Million's winning numbers drawing will be televised (pre-recorded) during the 11 p.m. EST newscast on CBS affiliate station WDBJ 7 in Roanoke. The channel usually shows the drawing during their first commercial break of the program. If there's no grand prize winners tonight, expect the prize to jump up even more, causing the lottery fever to start to build up a bit.
