The exciting news of the $213.4 million California Powerball jackpot lottery winner is history. It's time to think about the Mega Millions winning numbers for the Oct. 25, 2013 drawing, and what they're worth. If you're thinking of striking it rich tonight with Mega Millions, it's totally possible with Friday's $65 million jackpot! It may not be a record-breaking amount, but it's plenty to retire on. According to New Jersey Lottery officials on Oct. 23, the one time cash option is a whopping $36 million as well.
This is the seventh Mega Millions drawing since the Maryland Mega Millions lottery winner from Anne Arundel County hit the $189 million jackpot on Oct. 1, 2013. The jackpot has been climbing ever since, and just waiting for someone to match all six Mega Millions winning numbers. If no one wins the jackpot on Friday, Oct. 25, the next Mega Millions jackpot will most likely reach $75 million or more. How many lottery tickets did you buy for tonight's drawing?
BREAKING NEWS: The Mega Millions winning numbers for October 25, 2013 are 6, 16, 45, 54, 60, the Mega Ball number is 15, and the Megaplier is X 2.
Meanwhile, New Jersey Lottery executive director Carole Hedinger announced Wednesday, Oct. 23, that one lucky player bought a $5,000 winning ticket in Monmouth County at Welsh Farms, 3705 Highway 33, Neptune, and 22 winning tickets were sold for $500 each for the last drawing. The third-tier lottery winner matched four out of five white Mega Millions winning numbers, AND the gold Mega Ball number. The $500 winners matched four out of six Mega Millions winning numbers for the Tuesday, Oct. 22 drawing. Hedinger commented,
"Congratulations to the lottery winners and to the retailers that sold the winning tickets. For selling the winning tickets, the retailers have become more Lottery ‘lucky locations’ overnight."
Even though the Oct. 25 Mega Millions jackpot is a lot less than what the California Powerball winner won, don't think of Friday's jackpot as being not worth the trouble. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot tonight are the same as they are for any drawing—1 in about 176,000,000. Sure, it's not the largest jackpot ever. The largest Mega Millions jackpot in lottery history was $656 million (cash option of $474 million). It was split by three Mega Millions lottery winners on March 30, 2012.
