The Mega Millions lottery jackpot stands at $89 million, lottery officials announced Friday in an email alert.
Drawing will be at about 11 p.m. ET Friday.
If someone wins the jackpot, he/she will be able to take a lump-sum payment of $66 million, representing the jackpot minus taxes.
A winner may also decide to accept 26 annual payments of about $3.4 million, minus taxes.
The drawing is held every Friday and Tuesday. No one won the jackpot on Tuesday, but five winning tickets were sold for the $250,000 prize.
“Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 56; one ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 46,” according to lottery rules. “You win if the numbers on one row of your ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date. There are nine ways to win a prize, from $2 to the jackpot. If no one wins the jackpot, the money is added to the jackpot for the next drawing. Overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 40.”
