Mega Laughs the Back Story

The hilarious comedy DVD, “Mega Laughs – Comedy Royalty” has just been released exclusively on the internet at www.ronirwin.net.  It is the only compilation in the world to combine the great classic talents of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin together with two rapidly emerging stars Allen Rueckert and Kari Irwin.

Former prize fighter turned crooner Dean Martin teamed up with the zany Jerry Lewis in 1945.  They debuted shortly after at Atlantic City’s 500 club.  Not getting the reaction they wanted during their first act, they tossed the scripted material aside and improvised their way through the second show.  It turned out to be comedic magic as Jerry Lewis dressed as a busboy kept dropping plates  and otherwise being  a  perfect pest, interrupting the singing Dean Martin.  The audience went wild and their careers exploded.  They remained together on the night club circuit for awhile but evolved into radio, television and film.  This DVD begins with a typical Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis television show broadcast in 1959.  It is as funny today as it was it was over a half century ago.

Allen Rueckert is well on his way to great success both as a comedian and as an actor. He has appeared in three episodes of the television series “Those Guys!.”  He has also appeared in several short films to date and maintains a steady stream of appearing on stage in various comedy clubs around southern California.  In August of 2011 he made a special appearance hosting an event for the Burbank International Film Festival as Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank, California.  That particular appearance was videotaped on behalf of the film festival.

Kari Irwin began her acting career in a serious way when she was cast as Lady Bracknell in the classic play “The Importance of Being Earnest.” at the tender age of 12.  She went on to win critical acclaim for her portrayal of Imogene Herdman in “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at the Sierra Madre Playhouse.  Last year she had small roles in two award winning films.  In Hinnon Valley she played Daisy Zombie and is brutally killed while attacking one of the other characters.  In “Jillian Sometimes” she plays a medical office receptionist during which she gives the eye roll seen around the world..

Allen and Kari came together when they both were taking acting classes with Chick Vennera, one of the best in the business.  The professional chemistry was clear and immediate.  So when I, on behalf of the film festival reviewed the tape of Allen’s performance at Flappers I instantly saw an opportunity to create a short film and/or television show.  I called Allen and he agreed.  A day or two later there we were in a small theatre in Hollywood taping what was to become the post performance interview portion of the total project.

Much as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis launched their stellar careers by improvising an act out of necessity in 1946, Allen Rueckert and Kari Irwin did much the same thing in 2011.  There have been discussions of further projects together and I think that would work extremely well for both parties and for everyone who enjoys truly good humor without a sea of foul language.

So this exclusive video available only through Ron Irwin Entertainment combines two great comedy acts, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and Allen Rueckert and Kari Irwin.  You can get it exclusively at

I hasten to caution that this facility, Createspace is a division of Amazon but has its own first time buyer sign up requirements. It does take a couple of minutes to set up your account, but much of what is required is for your protection.  Once set up buying this video or any of the thousands of other videos becomes a snap.  My suspicion is that this video will become a true collector’s item.   In any event with this most unique DVD you will have well over an hour’s worth of entertainment you may watch for the rest of your life.
