Out of curiosity an internet search started by typing in "Georgia sustainability." Immediately, a link appears, sustainability.meetup.com/cities/us/ga/atlanta/, advertising meetup groups in Atlanta.
Clicking upon the link; it boasts of 28 sustainability networking groups ranging from interests of environmental, energy, wellness, special events, communities, poultry and many more. Whatever your field, Atlanta seems to have come a long way from just a few individuals getting together to share environmental sustainability programs.
The most interesting group is; It takes a village; non-profits seeking sustainability. The most fun seems to be a group called, Atlanta Green Drinks North. They boast, "We come together on the Fourth Wed. of the month from a broad variety of backgrounds to support local businesses, debate and discuss the world of ‘green,’ network, and enjoy some drinks with friends." So it seems that while discussing the latest "green" news they are downing the beers. Well, let's hope it's free of pesticides and illegal labor.
If desiring to have your own eggs every morning instead of running to the grocery, The Atlanta Backyard Poultry Meetup Group is for you. You may get called an Urban Chicken by your friends, but who cares? You will be cooking your own eggs and homemade pancakes for breakfast. There is even a support group to help you start your own garden and give you advice the entire way.
