Meeting Mr./Ms. Right in Paradise

Are you new to the island and you're looking for that special someone? Well, how do you do it when you don't know anyone? How do you find the right person in paradise? It's hard to find someone when you don't know the area, and you don't already have an established network of friends and family. Here's some tips to meeting Mr./Ms. Right.

  • Finding like minds: Web sites like Meetup have tons of people who are looking for like-minded individuals, who for example want to have fun in Honolulu on the cheap, or adventures on the islands. This gives you
  • Outdoors can be your opening: You're living on an island, capalize on it! Go to the beach, go snorkeling, or whatever you're into. Just do it something outside. While you're out there, keep an eye out for a hottie. Give a smile and strike up a conversation.
  • Take a class: If you have something that you've always wanted to do--make jewelry, learn how to play volleyball, or just something that you'd enjoy, try taking a course.  http://www.honoluluacademy.org/learn/classes     http://www2.honolulu.hawaii.edu/
  • Volunteer: Do you have a pet charity? Or do you want to do something to help pets? Check out web sites like:  volunteer-on-vacation-hawaii.com, volunteerhawaii.org and volunteermatch.org for ideas.
  • Bar scene, why not?: There is such a diversity in vacationers and people decide to stay in the Aloha State. The bar scene tries to accommodate as many people as possible. If you're looking for a dive bar, styled and sleek, typical vacationing experience, where the locals go, kareoke classics, these and more are out there waiting for you. Do some google searches and check out Yelp.com.
  • Whatrever you do-enjoy yourself: Regardless of if it's playing mini golf or watching a burlesque show, have fun. Your main focus doesn't necessarily have to be finding that certain someone 24-7. Let yourself get swept away in the feel of the island. Things slow down here, and mellow out. You'll find someone to share these experiences. Until then, have fun exploring.
