Meeting location top priority for SW Florida film organization (Photos)

On July 31, 2014, the United Film & Television Artists (UFTA) announced that they have to make a decision as to the next location for their upcoming August meeting, and future meetings as well. UFTA President Al Quinn commented in regard to the event.

Al, what is UFTA all about and who attends your meetings?

"Our organization, formed by all those in or interested in being in the entertainment business comprise our membership. In the past our members came from close surrounding areas such as Lee and Collier counties, but now they come from all over!

We are happy about that, out of town members and guests, but it makes us think twice when it comes to where to meet to make travel easier on all."

What are some of the considerations to this decision?

"We are currently 'mapping' out areas where the majority travel from, and we are trying to decide on available locations that will be centrally located. Right now we are considering the towns of Bonita Springs or South Fort Myers. Usually we meet in special rooms of restaurants, and Perkins has been the current one we meet at. There are several Perkins in this SW Florida area."

According to UFTA, they often have guest speakers that share about different aspects of the entertainment industry. At their last meeting they had two speakers. They were Maggie McCarty and Angel Navarro.

Maggie McCarty is the film commissioner/director for SW Florida, and she is a long time friend and supporter of UFTA as well. UFTA also supports her. They were honored that she accepted to speak. The Paradise Coast Film Commission is located at 755 8th Avenue South in Naples, just south of Fort Myers.

Also at the last meeting, photographer Angel Navarro, of Angel Navarro Photography, spoke on the importance of having a professional photograph to represent one's self, and how to go about obtaining it.

Al, can you share who the next speaker will be?

"Thanks for asking, but no, I can't. Actually we try and keep that a surprise, but he or she will not be disappointing!"
