Meet your perfect match at the MRFRS Valentine’s adoption event

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society (MRFRS) is celebrating Valentine’s Day with their “Snuggle Up With Someone New” cat adoption event on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. at the shelter.

During this event, adopters can take home any adult cat over one year of age for $14. All MRFRS cats go home spayed or neutered, current on vaccines, treated for fleas and worms, tested for FIV and FeLV, and microchipped.

“Everyone deserves some company on Valentine’s Day,” said Stacy LeBaron, President, MRFRS. “We hope that this event will be a great way for some of our adult cats and our adopters to meet that perfect match.”

The regular adoption screening process will apply. Adopters are encouraged to fill out an application in advance on their website or by stopping by the shelter during regular adoption hours.

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society headquarters is located at 63 Elm Street, Rt.110 East, Salisbury, MA 01952. Telephone: 978-462-0760.

The regular adoption hours are Tuesdays 12-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Wednesdays 12-3 p.m., Thursdays 12-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Fridays 12-3 p.m. and Saturdays 12-5 p.m.

The MRFRS is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that got its start as a feral cat organization. While the feral cat problem in Newburyport and surrounding areas is largely under control, MRFRS still operates several volunteer-staffed feral cat feeding stations in the local area, co-runs monthly feral spay/neuter clinics in conjunction with the MSPCA, loans humane traps, and teaches others the practice of TNR (trap-neuter-return). Since their founding in 1992, they have assisted over 55,000 cats and kittens.
