Meet the other Michael Jordan, master sommelier, at Laguna Beach Uncorked

Say the name Michael Jordan and wine lover's eyes light up. No, not the basketball star, Michael Jordan, MS, CWE, the wine expert. Jordan is one of 15 people in the country to hold both a Master Sommelier and Certified Wine Educator certification. Wine lovers have a special opportunity to learn from Jordan at Laguna Beach Uncorked and the Laguna Beach International Food and Wine Festival on March 9th.

Jordan, known as the "sommelier for the people," is a radio sommelier on KABC Talk Radio, KFWB and KLSX FM in Los Angeles, as well as host of his own radio show with Mike Horn called What’s Cookin’ on Wine - heard on the Cable Radio Network (CRN) and many AM radio markets across US. Jordan is President of Beachcomber Restaurants, California beach-themed restaurants in Malibu Pier and Crystal Cove. After years as a wine global manager for Disney and a restaurant manager at Napa Rose. Jordan started his own winery, WORD VINEYARDS, which has become known for exclusive, hand-crafted wines.

At Laguna Beach Uncorked, wine lovers can purchase a VIP tickets for a morning wine seminar with Jordan at 9:30 a.m. VIP ticket holders will also get early access to the private tasting portion of the event at 11:30 a.m., before the gates open to general admission ticket holders (only 200 VIP tickets will be sold).

Karyn Philippsen, event chair said, “This is a special event that has been gaining popularity as each year we strive to make it more memorable and fun than the last. At this year’s event, on March 9, guests will enjoy food tastings from twenty world-class Laguna Beach restaurants, wines from 30 wineries globally to include Italy, Spain, and New Zealand, as well as a fun mix of live music and socializing with a friendly crowd of like-minded food and wine aficionados." A portion of the proceeds benefit CHOC Children's Hospital. Laguna Beach Uncorked is one day in a four-day food and wine event, Laguna Beach Ala Carte.

Philippsen says the event sells out, especially when experts like Jordan will be part of the program. She encourages guests to purchase their tickets early. Buy your Laguna Beach Uncorked tickets ahead of time for $90, VIP tickets $145. Prices go up at the gate on the day of the event to $115.
