The Cincinnati Reds head to New York to take on the Mets for their first road series of the year.

After going 1-2 in a rain soaked series with the Cardinals, the Reds head east to face a Mets team that was swept by the Washington Nationals to start the year 0-3. Also following the Reds this weekend is the rain that has drenched the Midwest and now heads to the East Coast.

In the opening matchup on Friday, the Reds will trot out Mike Leake (14-7, 3.37 ERA in 2013) against Jenrry Mejia (1-2, 2.30 ERA in 2013). Saturday will feature Johnny Cueto (0-1, 1.29 ERA) and Dillon Gee (0-0, 5.40 ERA) who will each be making their second start of the season. Cueto was solid in seven innings making one mistake to Yadier Molina, while Gee was knocked around for four runs in 6.2 innings despite allowing just four hits. Sunday's finale will be a rare start for Alfredo Simon (6-4, 2.87 ERA in 2013) as he takes on Jonathon Niese (8-8, 3.71 ERA in 2013) who is coming off the disabled list after being bothered by elbow discomfort.

The Mets pitching staff suffered a big blow as closer Bobby Parnell suffered a partial MCL tear on Opening Day.Phenom Matt Harvey had Tommy John surgery in October to take away depth in the Mets rotation. New York also will be without it's center fielder, Chris Young, who was injured just one inning into the first game of the year. Infielder Daniel Murphy returns from paternity leave to fill his roster spot.
