On Sunday, April 15th, Mr. Samuel A. Jones will give a presentation sponsored by the Norcross Welcome Center and held at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center, 10 College Street from 4 - 6pm in the banquet room.
Jones is the events coordinator for the Atlanta Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen and will be speaking about the "Tuskegee Experience," a unique and vitally important development in the history of our country for black citizens and the country as a whole. The airmen were the first African-American combat pilots to fly in World War II. The group whose origins came from as far away as Haiti and Spain were trained to fly at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama.
A travelling exhibit on loan from Kennesaw State University which will be on display, includes 10 large panels of photos and historic content relative to the story of the airmen and other historic African-American heroes.
