The XXII Olympic Winter Games begin Friday, February 7, 2014. Hit the Road to Sochi Tour on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. on the Event Deck at L.A. LIVE. Meet U.S. Olympic athletes and celebrate the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Try your skills at 10 interactive sport stations, too. Bring the family. It's free!
Thanks to the U.S. Olympic Committee, several Team USA athletes will participate, including Joey Cheek, an Olympic speed skating champion and the U.S. flag bearer at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games Closing Ceremony.
Find out how sporty you are. Suit up and steer down a street luge ramp for a first-hand experience of one of the fastest sports in the Olympic Winter Games. Test a cross-country ski course utilizing roller skis used by elite athletes for training during warmer months. Try curling on an actual ice sheet and be judged on the distance of the stone to the house using the hog line. Compete in a head-to-head, one-minute skate-off while challenging strength, stamina and balance on two slide boards. Battle head-to-head in a two-minute action-packed biathlon course featuring two fully interactive stand-up ski ergometers with a shared projection screen. Snowboard down virtual slopes, or test your speed and accuracy with an ice hockey and sled hockey slap shot.
Bring a camera for plenty of photo-ops. Take a picture on a bobsled with a bobsled track background. Snap a ski jump photo while “in flight" - the green screen background is a photo from the actual take-off ramp in Sochi!
View historic figure skating memorabilia, including the U.S. Figure Skating Championship Trophy - a Tiffany & Co. designed sterling silver award that features the names of every national champion in U.S. figure skating history.
Every hour, a pair of Nike American flag gloves, which aren't sold in stores, will be given away.
