West Hills, CA - Over one year ago, Oliver was rescued from the streets. When he was first discovered, he was thin, scared and injured.
Oliver's beautiful golden fur was so badly matted that his skin was bleeding - his rescuer believes that he may have been hit by a car and there were injuries which even suggested that he had been stabbed.
Needless to say, Oliver's start to live was horrific.
Saving a dog like Oliver is hard. His time on the streets - fighting for his life - took a toll.
In fact, when Oliver was first rescued, he was too aggressive to handle - he had to be muzzled for fear that he would lash out and cause harm to someone who was trying to help.
Humans had ruined Oliver - fundamentally a great dog - his personality had been changed.
But love, training and great patience have paid off for this former street dog.
Today, Oliver is a gorgeous example of what a healthy, adult Chow should be.
Today Oliver wears a beautiful smile - he sports a gorgeous coat - he shows off a fabulous personality.
Those who know and love him the most describe Oliver as a friendly dog with a loving sense of humor.
Oliver has overcome a past that easily could have ruined him. But Oliver is fortunate - his rescuers were steadfast in their devotion to him.
His rescuers were determined to right the wrongs that he had endured.
Oliver is still searching for his own forever family - he gets along well with other dogs and is a friendly boy these days.
His rescuers want to find an experienced Chow owner for him - someone capable of keeping him on track.
Right now Oliver is in boarding and the stress from being locked away from people is taking a toll. The people who have fought so very hard to save Oliver are fearful that he may regress if he doesn't find a home of his own soon.
Please read Oliver's Petfinder profile to see how you can go about adopting this gorgeous dog.
Don't forget to watch Oliver's video which chronicles his journey from a homeless street dog, to the highly adoptable dog that he is today.
Please keep in mind - the video was created before Oliver's transformation was complete. Today he no longer needs special training - he just needs his own guardian.
Oliver is the featured "Hearts for Hopefuls" dog - please share his story. His ability to find a home rests upon the kindness and efforts of others - please share his story by "liking", "Tweeting", or posting to your Facebook profile.
