Meet local writers at Author Fair at downtown Omaha library Saturday

About 75 local authors, including Timothy Schaffert, will be available to sign books and meet readers at the Author Fair Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at Omaha's downtown public library. A "publisher's panel" at 2 p.m. will feature Schaffert and several others from the publishing industry: Cindy Grady from WriteLife Publishing; Erin Reel, Erin Reel Publishing Services; Sandra Wendel, Concierge Marketing; and Ellen Wheeler Scott, The Bookworm bookstore.

The Author Fair, on the fourth floor of the library, is free and open to the public.

These authors are scheduled to attend the Author Fair:

  • Timothy Schaffert, whose new novel "The Swan Gondola" was recognized by Oprah's Book Club 2.0.
  • Margaret Lukas, whose first novel "Farthest House" was recently published by WriteLife. Lukas teaches writing at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she earned a degree from the writers workshop.
  • Marilyn Coffey, author of several books including "Mail Order Kid: An Orphan Train Rider's Story," presenting the life story of a woman who, as a girl, rode an orphan train to her new home in Nebraska.
  • Brian Bogdanoff, the former Omaha homicide detective whose book "Three Bodies Burning: The Anatomy of an Investigation into Murder, Money, and Mexican Marijuana" tells the story of his biggest case.
