He’s got style, he makes people dance, he carries top-notch DJ equipment and you can find him spinning records at trendy night spots. Meet DJ Hevan. (Pronounced like the blissful word “heaven.”)
DJ Hevan is a Boston-based celebrity DJ, who also spinned at New York City hot spots and at many special events and concerts. This mixmaster also lent his artistic hands, and moved the crowd at many celebrity parties, including sharing the stage with Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Nas, KRS One, and a gang-load of other top music icons.
One exciting celebrity bash that Hevan performed at was at a Boston Celtics party at Club Rumor in the Patriot city right after the basketball team won the championship. “I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was Paul Pierce asking for the microphone, and he went on to give a speech that put chills up the crowds spine. It was wild!” said the DJ.
When asked the popular DJ, whether he spins in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, etc., which city demonstrates a livelier crowd? DJ Hevan answered, “I'd have to say I’ve seen some pretty high energy crowds in my time, but Boston definitely takes the crown. However, I’m biased.”
A brave answer like that coming from an artist shows edginess. Hevan is edgy and clever when scoping out and mixing for his audience.
The popular, young-looking party-mover who is a fan of the early 90's Hip Hop and R&B says he took his DJ gig serious after he realized he could make money doing something he loved, and being able to share it with the masses. If Hevan would not be spinning records, the young DJ would probably be promoting the night life. “They make a killing, and I’d still be able to be involved in something I enjoy,” says the pro disc jockey.
As for shaking the New York crowd, Hevan is not sure when he will return to the bright lights and big city. “I’d love to make a return to the Lush Lounge someday; I haven't been there in a long time, but I'm open to trying out some other spots, too,” said the ‘spinner.’
Don’t be surprised if you dance to this DJ’s mixes and mashes for this hip crowd pleaser who always wanted to spin at spring break in Mexico, or someplace warm, is pretty sure to be spinning at a luxurious hot-spot near you.
